Hi! Welcome to my site!
I’m an author, artist, and adventurer. I am an outdoor girl. I’m more comfortable deep in the woods miles from civilization than I am in town. The writings I share here are thoughts I have about everyday life, of learning to live more joyfully and have more satisfaction. I’m not consistent. I write only when I feel I have something to share. I share them because maybe you are going through something similar and something I say can spark an insight in you. If you want to be notified when I post something new, sign-up below. Thank you for reading!
Letting Go of Lady
I am writing this in memory of my beloved dog Lady. A friend suggested I get this on paper before I forget those precious last 3 weeks that Lady and I spent together. When I started writing this I never intended to share it, but now I share it for all...
The only True Fear
The only real fear is the fear that we can have everything we want. Did you know this? I have heard different people say it in various ways, but it was only a week or so ago that I felt it, that the truth of it made my cells feel spritely. We are told by...
Connecting the Thoughts
Connecting the thoughts This is how I am striving to live my life right now, intentionally. Some days look prettier than others. I think we mostly live our lives unintentionally. They didn't teach us in grade school the importance of living intentionally....
Pieces of Me
I originally wrote this to give as my Ice Breaker speech for Toastmasters. If you hear an accent, it's from Kentucky. Even though I haven't lived there for 28 years, it still rears it's southern-belle head. I am the only in my...
Compassion
A friend posted on her facebook post the other day about wearing a safety pin, to show that you are a safe person for everyone, that you respect everyone, no matter their beliefs. A person asked her if she could wear one, though she voted for Trump. There...
Really Noticing
The forested stream curved beside us as we swashed through the shoulder high plants. I found myself just noticing, "plant with razor-edged leaf, spike of purple protruding from stalk, wood across path, blade of green, light streaming through the trees,...
Where do you feel at Home?
Where do you feel at home? I started wondering this because, well I don't know, I'm just curious. Most people consider home where they grew up. I never felt the place I grew up was home, it was just where I was born. I realized for myself there are three...
Giving, is it really the key to Happiness?
It seems to me that when people keep saying that giving is the key to happiness, they are missing the point, the real secret. We have been told ad nauseum to put others before ourselves. But as in the oxygen on the airplane scenario, we can't if we aren't...
Feeling GodSource in the Room
Feeling God/Source in the Room What would happen if in all interactions you felt God/Source in the room with you? When your interacting with someone you don't particularly care for, what would happen if you pretended that you were seeing them through...
What if Safety comes from within not without?
What if safety comes from within not from without? Is it our expectation that others behave a certain way that makes us feel unsafe? For example, I feel safer in the woods by myself, than I do around people. I know what to expect there, wildlife is...
What would you do if you were Free?
What would you do if you were Free? I like to ask myself this question occasionally. "What would I do if I were free?" Often our minds will come up with all kinds of defenses. "I'm not free, I don't have all the money I need, I have to work." But what I...
